Formed in 1988 - Stockholm, Sweden. Known as one of the first Carcass clones, General Surgery initially consisted of anonymous Dismember and Carbonized members Matti Kärki & Richard Cabeza as well as Joacim Carlsson (the only member of the band to have remained since their inception) Grant McWilliams and Mats Nordrup.
General Surgery remained inactive for approximately 11 years before reforming in 2004, releasing their first full-length album 17 years after their formation. Currently, the band enjoys modest success as practitioners of the Goregrind genre.
